Re-Designed: The Backpack theme

Once you eliminate all the menus (there is an overabundance of them - 4 alone on the header!), all the little images and the overpowering logo, and also all the rounded images on the sidebar; what emerges is one of the most elegant blogger themes that one could ever hope for. I also changed the typographic elements so that they became more consistent, but the rest needed very little work. What is especially nice about this template is that it is one of very few where that I am coming across where the designer has actually used the entire browser width and not bunched up everything in the middle. So, what you get, especially with a full HD browser, is a well spread out layout.

One drawback that needs to be mentioned is that the slider at the top shows "Recent Posts" and not "Featured Posts", which I always find to be a problem. Why would we want to see recent posts when they are already in the blog feed itself? Anyway, I tried to fix that, however I could not get the carousel script to accept a Featured Post widget instead.

You can rollover the screenshot below to see the original version of the theme.

Important! 3rd party responsive Blogger themes have a lot of quirks that you will have to fix which come about every time that you restore a theme. So, this is not something that I can resolve with my tweak, there are some things that you, the end user, has to take care of before the theme is fully operational. To find out what these are and how to fix them, please make sure you look at the Instructions Page > > > right after you install the theme.
